Las Vegas Event Photography of Opportunity Village Camelot Black Tie Event

November 16, 2015 | By | No Comments

I love helping out my favorite charity with Las Vegas Event photography at Opportunity Village. Camelot is the annual Black Tie fundraiser where very generous friends of OV come together to support what is perhaps the finest facility in America for intellectually and physically disabled adults.

Opportunity Village IT Girl Spring Garden Party

March 21, 2015 | By | No Comments

Opportunity Village is my very favorite charity in Las Vegas, and perhaps anywhere. I love how they empower intellectually and physically disabled young people and adults with real jobs, paychecks and skills, people who – in another time and place – might waste away in front of a TV set. I love how they involve the community to give and to donate time and money to this mission. I love how efficiently OV squeezes as much from every voluntarily donated penny as they can.

Any time OV asks me to lend a hand with my photography my answer is always “yes” when I am available.

Please enjoy these photos from today’s wonderful IT Girl Spring Garden Party and Fashion Show – and look how beautiful and happy the fashion show OVIP models are! Notice, too, how individuals and companies throughout the community donated their time today. From catering and cook and wait staff, to decor and event planning, to styling, to different groups of young people from UNLV. OV is the gold standard of voluntary civil society.

Las Vegas Event Photography – Opportunity Village – Camelot black tie fundraiser 2014 honoring Penn Jillette

I am privileged any time the folks at my favorite Las Vegas charity – Opportunity Village – ask me to document their annual fundraising event, Camelot. This last week was my 3rd or 4th time in the 5 years we’ve lived in Vegas. I love shooting Las Vegas event photography anyway, but it is even more enjoyable when I am documenting for a truly uplifiting group, an exceptionally well run charity that has positive impact on the daily lives of hundreds of intellectually and developmentally disabled adults who, in another place and time, might be throw away people. I am grateful for the existence of Opportunity Village, and for the uncountable hours of all the staff and volunteers and donors who make it possible.3E2A1271.JPG-Las-Vegas-Event-Photography-Penn-Jillette-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHYPenn and Emily are a little verklempt while watching a video showing their works for Opportunity Village.Las Vegas Event Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Penn Jillette honored by Opportunity VillagePenn tearing up a little seeing a video of all the awesome stuff he does for Opportunity Village.4D8A6175.JPG-Las-Vegas-Event-Photography-Penn-Jillette-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY 3E2A0614.CR2-Las-Vegas-Event-Photography-Penn-Jillette-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY Las Vegas Event Photographer STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Penn Jillette Penn & Teller Opportunity VillagePenn Jillette belting out a punk version of Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane” – he shook the house.3E2A1053.JPG-Las-Vegas-Event-Photography-Penn-Jillette-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHYBilly Walters always looks like he’s having fun. Penn Jillette wins $100,000 for Opportunity Village

May 21, 2013 | By | No Comments

By now a lot of people know how Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller made it into the final two of Celebrity Apprentice. And many know that Penn won the ice cream challenge, thereby raising $100,000 for his and my favorite charity – Opportunity Village. It is always my privilege to assist Opportunity Village any way I can. I was so happy to be there for PR Red Carpet photography of the rollout of Penn’s ice cream flavor at the Walgreen’s on the Las Vegas Strip. Kudos to Penn Jillette for helping bring the incredibly successful model of OV to a national audience.Kids love ice cream.Blue Man Group came out to announce Penn Jillette’s ice cream flavor and show support for Opportunity Village. This is roll out day. By Tuesday Walgreen’s shelves were bare of Penn Jillette’s flavor everywhere in Vegas.
Thank you lovely ladies of Jubilee!Teller eating ice cream Vegas-style.

Tory L Cooper Events – Details from CAMELOT – The Opportunity Village gala fundraiser

November 18, 2012 | By | No Comments

This is charity at its best.

Tory L Cooper Wedding and Event Planners donated their overabundance of talent to CAMELOT – the big fundraiser for Opportunity Village. With an army of volunteers from throughout the Las Vegas community, one of the Opportunity Village campuses was transformed into a winter wonderland.

Virtually every thing and everybody’s time was donated in the service of raising funds for this most excellent and efficient charity. I will attempt to list the many incredibly generous vendors as I get that information.

More than 80% of Opportunity Village’s funds are privately raised. Over 98% of the money raised at this year’s CAMELOT goes directly to funding Opportunity Village.

Fabulous Pastries from Jean Philippe Patisserie ARIA donated to Opportunity Village Camelot Fundraiser

November 17, 2012 | By | No Comments

Hat tip to the pastry artists at Jean Philippe Patisserie at ARIA, for donating this exquisite, elegant, indescribably delicious feast of sweets for Opportunity Village’s Camelot fundraiser. At the end of an evening of entertainment and generosity, all the guests were met with this kaleidoscopic exhibition of excellence. Having missed the dinner service, I snuck one or two. All I can say is “Vive la France!”
