Headshot Retouching for your Portable Tradeshow Headshots by STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY

Many of our portable headshot clients purchase professional headshot retouching. Our goal for professional retouching is always to preserve the basic shape and reality of our subjects’ face, but to deliver the best version of you. No overdone plastic fantastic Barbie doll skin.

We could take away 30 years and 50 lbs, but do you really want your first impression to be one that is so far from your current reality?Headshot retouching before and after Tradeshow Convention Headshots On-Location High-Key of ACFE Nashville 2017 Conference Attendees at ACFE in Nashville, Tennessee by http://www.StevenJosephPhotography.com

We remove and soften dark circles and wisdom lines under eyes. We brighten eyes and teeth. We remove temporary blemishes. We remove obvious stains on your clothing, food in your teeth, that kind of thing.

If you really want to go deeper, further away, please ask and we will arrange for a second pass.

To see exactly what we do to all headshots we deliver to clients check out this post on the difference between deep editing (headshot retouching) and light editing.

IN THE COMMENTS BELOW let me know if you think we go too far, not far enough, or just right on these example photos in this post. Thank you!

Want to Increase Dwell Time and Increase Traffic to your Portable Tradeshow Booth by 25%? OFFER QUALITY HEADSHOTS.

“We now have people around the booth consistently throughout the day rather than just at break times. Traffic has increased about 25% since we started offering headshots.”

– Carrie Kelly, Dir of HR, ACFE

INCREASE TRAFFIC, DWELL TIME & ROI

Do you want to know how to increase Dwell Time and Increase Traffic to your Portable Tradeshow Booth by 25%? Offer quality headshots.

Has giving out branded mousepads and chapsticks run its course? Is traffic & dwell time to your booth kind of anemic, no different than most everybody else’s?

One way to increase traffic and dwell time to your conference booth by 25% is to give out something everybody wants and everybody needs – headshots.

GORGEOUS HEADSHOTS ON-LOCATION. HIGH SPEED. HIGH VOLUME. HIGH QUALITY.

INCREASE

♦ Booth Traffic

♦ Dwell Time

♦ Happy Clients

♦ Quality Opt-In Leads

♦ ROI

People will line up deeply, patiently waiting for their high quality, gorgeous, and fun headshots being given away at your booth. Think of how much your sales people appreciate this. Or how much your management will like all the new sales revenue coming from your company’s big tradeshow expense.

For example, recently, Dell-EMC World was in Vegas at the Sands Expo.

Linkedin reviewed the Linkedin profile pages of attendees, to help optimize them. As a sweetener, rather than give away the usual mouse pads or USB sticks, Linkedin gave away high quality, high volume indoor environmental headshots to anyone who came up for the review.

OPTIONAL AWESOME – REALLY IMPROVE ROI

To really turn up the awesome, we offer even more tools to help you get the most return on your big Tradeshow investment.

  • Opt-in User Data Capture & Reporting
  • Users can send headshots directly to their email & social media (this is how we capture user data for you)
  • Print headshots branded with your logo and message

TRUE EXPERTISE & QUALITY

“It was great working with you and you really helped make our presence at the event top-notch. The attendees are thrilled with their headshots!”

– Kelly Kyer, Global Director, Technology Vertical Marketing, Linkedin

Lots of photographers will agree to make headshots at your tradeshow. But most won’t have the weird skill set necessary to make truly beautiful headshots that your customers love and that make you look mahvelous.

A truly great headshot is made by an experienced photographer who possesses the following qualities:

  • top notch lighting skills
  • the skill & talent to see and draw-out a person’s “best face”
  • the weird ability to connect with anybody instantly to get them to relax and emote, one minute at a time, all day long

STYLES

High-Key Pure White Backdrop

All of the photos below are straight out of camera with minimal adjustment.

We offer three styles of backdrops:

  1. pure white high key
  2. traditional corporate grey
  3. our exclusive indoor environmental

What are indoor environmental headshots?

The popular environmental look is where headshots are made outdoors in a park or against trees or through a window looking out on a pretty scene.

We have innovated a way to bring any outdoor scene right to your booth. Our indoor environmental backdrops look incredibly realistic and gorgeous.

Low-Key Grey / Black Backdrop

Because convention centers are some of the largest buildings in the world, where it can take 30 minutes just to walk outside or to a window, outdoor environmental photos are not practical.

The solution I offer my corporate clients is that we create a beautiful environment indoors! My client gets to choose the “environment”, be it a brightly lit modern office conference room, or looking out a “window” to bright green vegetation, or a low-key familiar skyline at night.

NO GREENSCREEN.

And we do this without green screen and all of its problems: greenscreen murders hair, it just doesn’t look right, it requires lots of post production with a computer, and God forbid somebody is wearing green!

We use a different method, an elegant method, that results in a gorgeous look right in camera. The client can walk up to the camera or tethered computer right after their photo is taken and say things like “OMG that’s the best headshot I’ve ever gotten” or “Wow that looks so realistic and the lighting on me is fantastic” or “You’re a magician”. [Actual quotes.]

We can get through 100-150 people per day, per photo bay. My team can scale up to as many photo bays as needed to serve any size audience. Each person sits for an average of 2.5 minutes. It’s really easy for your people. It’s usually a lot of fun. Almost everyone walks away loving their new headshot. And the sponsoring company looks like heroes.

BEST. SWAG. EVER.

Need a better way to draw crowds to your trade show convention booth, increase dwell time and get back a return on your big tradeshow budget investment?

You may need high volume, high quality, high speed, studio-lit on-location headshots.

We’ll make you look mahvelous.

B+W Headshots On Location – an international beauty products company did a training in Vegas, needed gorgeous simple dramatic black and white headshots for their stylists.

B+W Headshots On Location. An international beauty products company did a training in Vegas, needed gorgeous simple dramatic black and white headshots for their stylists.

I shot tethered to a laptop, which synced in near-real-time to the cloud and to the 2nd laptop and tablet I brought. I also pushed my point of contact a URL that anyone could bring up on their smartphone.

Indoor Environmental Portable Headshots at a convention on the Las Vegas Strip

January 14, 2017 | By | No Comments

Environmental headshots are all the rage, even for very large corporations. They look so fresh and contemporary. However they can come with a lot of hassle.

One of the largest companies in the world came to Las Vegas this week and their executives wanted environmental headshots, without the hassle, discomfort and risk of wind and dust and rain and heat and perspiration and a long walk. No problem. So I created “outdoor” environmental headshots right in the comfort of a hotel conference room.

Is your company converging on Las Vegas in the near future, and you recognize it’s an opportunity to create coherent, gorgeous headshots for all of your executives, employees, or guests? In addition to indoor environmental headshots, we also provide gorgeous traditional high-key and low-key corporate headshots. High Quality. High Volume. Fair Prices.

We even let you see and then select your favorite photo from an iPad/tablet (for later re-touching) in real time as they are being created. That’s pretty neat!

I have a confession to make.

I love your images. Possibly too much.

Even though I’m known for professionally lit, clean, poppy, magazine style images with no Photoshop Sauce™ I still spend a lot of time making them perfect. Probably too much time. Which means sometimes my clients don’t get their images as fast as they’d like. Here’s how much I love your images.

To see many Before & After images, keep scrolling.

THE MANY WAYS I SHOW LOVE TO YOUR IMAGES

I deliver your photos to you only after each one has been carefully, lovingly hand-tweaked by the photographer or by a skilled digital artist to look their very best. Like a mom who won’t let the little ones leave the house with shirt un-tucked and a dirty face, I do not release my (your) photos until I’ve given them LIGHT EDITING in Adobe Lightroom. Each photo is hand adjusted in some or all of the following settings before I gently hand my babies over to you:

  • Color Temperature
  • Exposure
  • Contrast
  • Highlights
  • Shadows
  • Whites
  • Blacks
  • Clarity
  • Vibrance
  • Tone Curve
  • Luminance
  • Noise Reduction
  • Vignetting
  • Spot Removal

Sometimes, I even take your images into Photoshop for DEEP EDITING, like removing lighting structures and distractions.

Another confession: I don’t always make perfect images right in camera. Usually I get very close. Sometimes complexions etc require intervention. Sometimes I intentionally shoot with stuff in the frame that I plan to remove later. And sometimes, I kind of blow it and a great image is over- or under-exposed, hidden in my mediocrity and needs to be resurrected in post. But that’s seriously uncommon.

In the examples below I show editing differences that are quite small (the ones I pretty much nailed in-camera), all the way to ones intentionally cluttered or even oddly exposed with the vision of the end-photo in mind. I’m even including images from some of the outstanding Associate Photographers who shoot for STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY, who also shoot deliberately and with intention, and give each of your babies the TLC they deserve (Toning, Lightroom, and Cropping).  🙂

Corporate & Casual Headshots On Location – Las Vegas

December 27, 2016 | By | One Comment

las-vegas-headshots-corporate-conference-the-wynnAre you bringing a lot of your people to your Las Vegas Convention, for training, or celebration, or recognition? What a perfect time to get high-quality headshots for all of your key people, while you’ve got them all in the same place. Or what a great way to reward your contractors or members who are out in the trenches with the opportunity to get a top-notch headshot for their website, their Linked-In profile, or other social media avatars like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

We come to your location, to the hotel where your conference is being held, where we set up studio lighting in a surprisingly small space – we need about 8 feet wide by about 10 feet deep.

You decide on your preferred style of headshot: high-key, low-key, or environmental.

We can set up as many bays as necessary to comfortably accommodate as many people as you want. Figure on about 75 – 100 people‘s headshots created per photo bay in a non-stop, all-day scheduled approach. Fewer per bay in a less structured format (e.g., people popping in at their convenience).

We produce between 5 and 15 photos per person in about 3.5 minutes, assuring we’ve gotten your guests’ best side, best look, best expression.

We can even live-stream the photos as they are being made to tablets and iPads where people can select their favorite right after it is created, streamlining the post-processing edit. All photos are lightly edited before upload. Advanced professional re-touching is an available add-on.

Want to get really good headshots for 400 people over the course of your Las Vegas Convention? We can do that.
