NEON-orama! Engagement Elopement Photography at the Neon Museum Boneyard in Las Vegas, The Fremont, The Strip
Thinking about Neon Signs? What says “Las Vegas” more than a museum full of neon signs from Las Vegas’ past? Did you know that there is also a “mini-neon museum” down on the Fremont Street Experience? And of course, The Strip is chock full-o-neon everywhere you look.
This post is about neon, neon, neon. In this post I mean to give the newcomer an idea of what sort of neon and neon sign options are available when hiring a Vegas photographer for an elopement, a wedding ceremony, or just ‘cuz you want some neon in your life!
The Neon Museum is The Gold Standard for neon signs. Filled with gorgeous signs from Vegas’ storied past, and fairly friendly to those wanting to book a photography session there, I love doing an hour session with couples at the Neon Museum. And you can get married at the Neon Museum, too.
While the Neon Museum has made some big changes lately, my understanding is that photography sessions are available Monday-Saturday prior to 10:00am, and all day on Sunday. I understand that the photography fee (it all goes to support the Museum) is $400 for the 1 hour shoot. To reserve a shoot date with the museum (Note: this does not reserve STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY) start at this link: Film & Photo Shoots Reservations.
We prefer shooting on The Fremont instead of The Strip for so many reasons.
The Fremont is much more human-scale and walkable than The Strip. The Strip is much bigger and grander than many people realize. It takes a long time to walk or drive anywhere on The Strip, chewing up your photography session and limo time waiting in traffic.
The security in and around The Strip properties can be very aggressive, and downright unwelcoming to couples with professional photographers in-tow. While I’ve never been taken in back and had my hands broken (you’ve seen Deniro in “Casino”, right?) sometimes I think it’s been close! o_O
The Fremont security is generally much easier going.
Another thing we like about The Fremont over The Strip is HOW MUCH NEON there is – it’s everywhere!
There are old iconic neon signs like the Neon Museum has, but installed in different places throughout The Fremont, and they’re all lit up! While several of my favorite signs have recently been moved off Fremont and back to the big Neon Museum (Red Barn Martini Glass, and Wedding Information), Fremont is still home to many classic lighted historic neon signs, and the lights everywhere are a party for your eyes.
The Fremont is also buzzin’. We usually go down when the sun has set, and the place is lit up. It is chaotic, frenetic, exciting – pure old skool Vegas.
Do you want magazine-quality professionally lighted photography with some neon signs in the mix? You should talk to STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY 🙂 Let’s go shoot!
