Wedding Cinema vs Your Cousin Jimmy

June 19, 2012 | By | No Comments

I want all of my clients to understand the enormous difference between professional wedding cinematography and a home video made by a talented relative or friend.

Wedding videography has evolved dramatically in the last 10 years to the point where the better work now more resembles a high-quality Hollywood film – with tight editing and gorgeous lighting and moving storytelling – than the static, blurry, shaky, amateur work of old.

If you’re considering letting your Uncle Bob or good friend make the video for your wedding, I hope you’ll first take a look at the samples below.

The first video – labeled “Uncle Bob” – is borrowed from YouTube, and is representative of what you’ll get from a non-professional.

The film clips below Uncle Bob’s – labeled “Lighten Films” – represent the kind of excellence you can expect from a modern, full-time wedding cinematographer, like Terrence Lighten of Lighten Films here in Las Vegas.
