Elopement in DTLV Downtown Las Vegas – Kourtney and Matt get outta the cold and tie the knot

May 17, 2015 | By | No Comments

To get out of the cold, to marry the love of their life, to get a mini vacation rush of excitment and neon and fun, Kourtney and Matt flew to Las Vegas to get married! When I met them at the Container Park in DTLV Downtown Las Vegas – East Fremont Street area – they had just left the chapel, and were visibly giddy and adrenaline high. Even though it was colder than usual in Vegas, Kourtney – a tough upstate New Yawkah – toughed it out, declining to accept my fleece jacket the several times I offered it, and (wisely) declining my large beat-up Merrell slip-on shoes to give her a break from her super cute pink high heels. She’s tough that girl. And she and Matt were relaxed and smiling the whole time we walked the East Fremont. We had no particular spots to go. We were just looking for some public wall art graffiti, some neon, and (to me) most importantly some real emotion.

I think we found it.

Vegas Elopement LAUNCHED down in the East Fremont DTLV area

When Aimee and Ingo contacted us saying the LOVE our photography and really felt a connection by reading my bio, we were very flattered and happy. When they said “let’s do the ‘umbrella flying away’ shot” I’m all “OK! Let’s!” and so we did. These guys rented a beautiful red Jaguar, they brought all kinds of smoochin’ and hugging and WE JUST GOT MARRIED vibes to the shoot. And all of that combined with their awesome easy going very fun personalities makes my job all the more easy. After meeting them in the downtown Las Vegas area by one of the many street murals, we just zipped around fairly randomly making pretty. While DTLV can be a little raunchy for some, nothing beats the easy access, the photography-friendly attitude, and the endless textures and colors and background settings. Elopement shoots in the Downtown Las Vegas East Fremont area are truly one of my very favorite kinds of shoots. And with clients as animated and happy and easy going as Aimee and Ingo, I gotta pinch myself to see if this is really my job? Thank you Ingo and Aimee for a great shoot in downtown vegas!

Las Vegas Engagement Photos STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY DTLV East Fremont NeonThe Neon Museum Las Vegas Neon STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHYAs The Neon Museum and East Fremont in DTLV keep getting better they keeps getting busier. After the only available appointment Bonnie and Andy could get for their gorgeous loving colorful fun Las Vegas Engagement photography session was at 9:00am this morning, they asked “is Vegas even open at 9:00am?” We said “no, it isn’t”, but of course it is. And we LOVED being the first photo shoot of the day in the bright sun mixed with beautiful rare fluffy dark clouds.

These guys made my job so easy ‘cuz they’re so much in love, so happy to be with each other, so happy to be in the Las Vegas they love, and so happy to be getting married.

The Neon Boneyard was Round I of their Las Vegas Engagement photography session. Round II was where the Las Vegas neon is all lit up – East Fremont and Downtown Las Vegas DTLV. Big thanks to Julian – the General Manager of Gold Spike – who let us shoot in their private pool area with his permission.Las Vegas The Neon Museum STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Bonnie and AndyThe Neon Museum Las Vegas Neon Boneyard STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Bonnie and AndyLas Vegas Engagement Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY The Gold Spike Downtown Las Vegas DTLVLas Vegas Engagement Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY The Gold Spike Downtown Las Vegas DTLVLas Vegas Engagement Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY The Gold Spike Downtown Las Vegas DTLVLas Vegas Engagement Photos STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY DTLV East Fremont NeonLas Vegas Engagement Photos STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY DTLV East Fremont NeonLas Vegas Engagement Photos STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY The Neon Museum The Neon Boneyard

More of this sexy saucy fun Old Vegas Downtown Las Vegas Neon Fremont Street Wedding Elopement Photography session RIGHT NOW!

Did I mention that we seem to attract *really fun* couples? And that we have *A LOT OF FUN* when we go out and shoot? I don’t think my kids would describe me as “fun”, but the fact that I LOVE photographing weddings and elopements and I have a blast doing it seems to come banging through in the photos. The fact that we bring feather-light studio quality lighting is just a bonus.

These guys Caitlin and Dave were A HOOT! and you can see how relaxed and happy they were the whole time we spent together, which was like 3 hours. Time flies for me, but I do find that a longer shoot with more location variety often gives up some of the best images. We get into a groove. We get comfortable. And my couples are usually kind of walking on a cloud – I mean THEY JUST GOT MARRIED! so of course they’re happy! We’re all happy!

Please enjoy these photos and this cool and sexy couple! And thanks to everybody who ever has and ever will honor me with the privilege of recording unforgettable images of some of your most important life events. IMG_0578-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-DavidLas Vegas Wedding Photographers STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Las Vegas Elopement Welcome to Las Vegas SignIMG_3217-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-DavidLas Vegas Wedding Photographers STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY DTLV Fremont Street Welcome to Las Vegas Sign IMG_3171-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David-Edit IMG_3182-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David IMG_3199-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David IMG_3422-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-DavidIMG_3345-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David IMG_3522-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-DavidDowntown Las Vegas DTLV Wedding Elopement Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY Caitlin and DavidDowntown Vegas Elopement Photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY DTLV Old Vegas East Fremont Caitlin and David IMG_3276-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David Downtown Las Vegas DTLV elopement photography STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY IMG_3382-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David IMG_3388-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David IMG_3389-Old-Las-Vegas-Downtown-Vegas-Wedding-Photography-STEVEN-JOSEPH-PHOTOGRAPHY-Caitlin-and-David

I have a confession to make.

I love your images. Possibly too much.

Even though I’m known for professionally lit, clean, poppy, magazine style images with no Photoshop Sauce™ I still spend a lot of time making them perfect. Probably too much time. Which means sometimes my clients don’t get their images as fast as they’d like. Here’s how much I love your images.

To see many Before & After images, keep scrolling.

THE MANY WAYS I SHOW LOVE TO YOUR IMAGES

I deliver your photos to you only after each one has been carefully, lovingly hand-tweaked by the photographer or by a skilled digital artist to look their very best. Like a mom who won’t let the little ones leave the house with shirt un-tucked and a dirty face, I do not release my (your) photos until I’ve given them LIGHT EDITING in Adobe Lightroom. Each photo is hand adjusted in some or all of the following settings before I gently hand my babies over to you:

  • Color Temperature
  • Exposure
  • Contrast
  • Highlights
  • Shadows
  • Whites
  • Blacks
  • Clarity
  • Vibrance
  • Tone Curve
  • Luminance
  • Noise Reduction
  • Vignetting
  • Spot Removal

Sometimes, I even take your images into Photoshop for DEEP EDITING, like removing lighting structures and distractions.

Another confession: I don’t always make perfect images right in camera. Usually I get very close. Sometimes complexions etc require intervention. Sometimes I intentionally shoot with stuff in the frame that I plan to remove later. And sometimes, I kind of blow it and a great image is over- or under-exposed, hidden in my mediocrity and needs to be resurrected in post. But that’s seriously uncommon.

In the examples below I show editing differences that are quite small (the ones I pretty much nailed in-camera), all the way to ones intentionally cluttered or even oddly exposed with the vision of the end-photo in mind. I’m even including images from some of the outstanding Associate Photographers who shoot for STEVEN JOSEPH PHOTOGRAPHY, who also shoot deliberately and with intention, and give each of your babies the TLC they deserve (Toning, Lightroom, and Cropping).  🙂
