Exceptional photography is hard work

Exceptional photography can be hard work. Photography that looks different, looks better, is top of the field, requires more effort from everybody involved.
Take Brandy and Ryan. About a year ago I had the pleasure of working with these guys, who came out to Las Vegas all the way from Indianapolis. They were determined to make great wedding photography. They invested the extra money to rent time at the world famous Neon Boneyard. And then – to get extra awesome – we drove all the way out to Lake Mead, where they let me stick them into the ice cold water for a long time, with insects buzzing around, feet freezing, while I ran around them like a crazy man creating some gorgeous light paintings.

These guys were so happy to be with each other, to be married, to be in the moment. The world famous Neon Museum. They charge $200 for an hour of photography time. (Rumored to maybe increase soon).

If you’re willing to put up with an hour or so of discomfort, you’re probably going to end up with spectacular photos that really stand out from the crowd.

  1. Well said Steve!

  2. Crazy weather definitely helps the photography stand out a bit. Dramatic skies, great laughs from the client wondering why the heck they are doing this…it’s definitely all worth it in the end.

  3. What does this comment look like?
